Universal France Compilation Featuring Tori Sparks Sells 25,000 Copies in First Weeks

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) July 18, 2008 -- The Universal Music France compilation featuring Tori Sparks has sold over 25,000 copies within its first few weeks of its late-March release in Europe. "It's exciting," says Director of Compilations Jean Claude Paulin, who spearheaded the project. "This compilation is unique in that it features a combination of French and American artists, ranging from household names like Wynonna and Brad Paisely to others we're just discovering." Paulin has been a strong proponent of bringing "importing Nashville" since his early interest in Music City was sparked during the late 1970's.

Only a few independent artists were asked to participate in the UMF compilation, most notably Nashville up-and-comer Tori Sparks. "We're lucky to occasionally come across artists like Tori," says Paulin. "I found her on MySpace." Sparks' song "Cold War" was also featured on the Paste Magazine New Music Sampler (June 2008), as well as by Performing Songwriter Magazine as a Top 12 DIY Download (July 2008). According to Paulin, this compilation is different from its predecessor in that it covers a "broader spectrum of styles," though still under the umbrella of the Country genre. The compilation has been warmly received in francophone countries such as France, Monaco, Andorra, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Liechtenstein, and other French territories.
